Light in Egypt
No one could see anyone else or

You know the story. God sent Moses to Egypt to demand, in
the name of the Lord, that Pharaoh release the Israelites from slavery and
allow them to go to their promised land. Repeatedly, Pharaoh refused, denying the sovereignty of God. The plague of
darkness was the ninth plague. By this time, the Israelites were becoming convinced of God’s
power as the One and Only Lord.

The Egyptians were in the dark – why? Because they refused
to believe in the Lord of Lords.
to believe in the Lord of Lords.
Why did the Israelites have light? They
believed in the Lord and His power. Although their faith was weak, they were
growing stronger, one step at a time.
Can you imagine
their joy and amazement as they walked to the boundary of their land and saw
complete darkness just beyond their borders?

I met the Lord as a teenager, sitting on the floor in the den, watching Billy Graham. I knew Jesus was born at Christmas and I knew songs like “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” but, until that moment, those words hadn’t penetrated my heart. What a marvelous feeling, a joy and a wonder, as God’s light filled my heart!
How have you felt God’s light feel your heart? Either for
the first time or as He wiped away the darkness of sorrow or bitterness?
