El Elyon: God Most High

El Elyon: God Most High

In Genesis 14, Abraham and his servants set out on a rescue mission. When a neighboring king captured several of Abraham’s family members, he pursued the king’s army and freed his family. On the way back to Abraham’s city, a priest met him and blessed him in the name of El Elyon, God Most High.

Lord of lords, King of kings, Power of powers. No being, earthly, spiritually, or celestially is higher than He.

Who above Him is worthy of our praise, our worship, and our dedication? Many things in this world call for our allegiance but what is above God Most High?

  • Jesus proclaims that no one is greater than God (John 10:19).
  • Jesus proclaims that God is greater than He is, as God in the flesh (John 14:28).
  • The Apostle John assures us that He who is in us (the Holy Spirit) is greater than Satan, who tempts us (1 John 4:4).
  • God, through Jesus, is greater than sin (Hebrews 9:26).
  • God, through Jesus, is greater than death (2Timothy 1:10).
  • God is El Elyon, Most High, and no matter what, we can trust Him with our lives.

Go forward each day with complete confidence in God Most High.

Sometimes we let day to day life cloud our image of God. Thanks for this reminder that He is bigger than anything we can face. Blessings!

He is bigger, Barbara. Too often, my eyes get distracted by the smaller obstacles. Thanks for commenting!

El Elyon reminds me that I can trust Him because He is greater than all the things * can’t control. That strengthens my foundation of faith, knowing that I can’t live like I should without His power and strength.
I enjoyed the word exploration of “greater.” He is greater than the big things, so He is greater than the small things. Praise the Lord!
