Truths for Today:

December, 2009:

Don't Forget Me!

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. Psalms 17:8 (NIV)

I'm sitting at my desk as I write this, looking out my window into a thick fog. I can see the shapes of cars as they drive by and the shadowy figure of the neighbor down the street who has the energy to jog early every morning.

A thick fog…sounds like a description of my mind a great deal of the time. If it can be misplaced, I misplace it. If it can be forgotten, I forget it. I take "absentminded" to an art form.
The first time my sister and I went to a Christian writer's conference together, we roomed together. After about 10 times of saying: "You forgot your binder," or "I saw your reading glasses by the bed," or "I have to see your room key in your hot little hand before I'll close this door!" she looked at me and said: "You need a keeper!"

Praise God, He has given me one. My sweet husband tries gallantly to keep up with everything I lose on a daily basis. As I look around frantically, he gently points out that my reading glasses are riding around on top of my head. He happily retraces my steps with me to help me find where in the world I put my coffee cup. And my keys…well, that's a lost cause.

I have friends who are so close to God, they talk to Him all day long. I do, too. I'm continually saying, "Okay, Lord. You know where I put that so please show me!"

Read the wonderful words of Psalms 17:8. You are the apple of His eye! He never forgets you, He never misplaces you. He knows where you are at all times and He takes care of you, wherever your path may carry you.

You never have to search for God's love, it flows around you every moment (Jeremiah 31:3). You can never lose God, He is with you forever (1 Chronicles 16:34, Matthew 28:20). You can never misplace God, He is holding you securely in His hand (John 10:28-29). Now, that's something to be thankful for!
